The early years foundation stage (EYFS) sets the statutory standards that all early years providers must meet. This includes all maintained schools, non-maintained schools, independent schools and all providers on the Early Years Register.

The EYFS aims to provide:

• Quality and consistency in all early years settings.

• A secure foundation for all children for good progress through school and life.

• Partnerships between different practitioners.

• Partnerships between parents or carers and practitioners.

At Toddlertown Nursery school, in the Early Years Foundation Stage, the staff work together towards a shared vision of "For Every Child, An Excellent Educational Experience". We guide the development of children’s capabilities with a view to ensuring that all children are ready to benefit fully from the opportunities ahead of them and are able to fully exploit all learning opportunities.

We have our own guiding principles and aims for the children in our care.

AIMS

In accordance with the Mission, Vision, and General Aims of the school, the EYFS programme aims to:

• To provide a safe, secure learning environment in which all children feel valued and supported.

• To provide a secure foundation through the provision of learning and development opportunities which are planned around the needs and interests of each individual child, assessed, and reviewed regularly.

• To make learning a fun, meaningful, engaging process in which students are actively involved

• To link classroom learning to the world outside the classroom.

• To ensure quality and consistency across early years programme, so that every child makes good progress.

• To form a close partnership with our parents, keeping them well-informed about the progress of their child and any areas where additional support may be needed.

• To prepare children for successful entry in Year 1.
